Here are a few things you didn’t know about us, Dan and I are massive fans of a show called The Block Australia. In fact, we think that Australians have a leg up on the world when it comes to building and designing bathrooms. We especially love how Australians build intimate spaces that feel luxurious and spacious yet boast compact footprints.

For us, a dream bathroom was at the top of our list when we started to design our home. Call it tiny or not, we knew that our shower would be mighty even before we raised our foundation pillar. After all, Dan and I made sure to create a dreamy shower for the family who bought our Spanish flip. So, we think our forever home deserved an equally dreamy shower, if not dreamier… (if you’re interested, you can check out our past project section to see the Spanish flip bathroom we created).

Another thing you didn’t know about Dan and me is that we’re antic lovers. And I have admirably converted Dan into the art nouveau genre. We actually have a huge collection of vintage prints that we cannot wait to display in our main living area. With the years and travel, our collection is in ever expansion. So, given our love for vintage ads, Alphonse Mucha was a big influence in creating our dream bathroom. Especially his Laurel series, which has inspired the color of our tiles. We’ve also used Muncha’s painting to dictate the shape of our showers and the font-level storage you’ll find above our vanity.

Alphonse Mucha, was also a big influence when considering the vanity we’d build. Call it trendy or not, for us, the floral pattern often used in his painting only meant one thing to us. Our bathroom vanity would need to have a live edge.

While the bathroom is still very much in progress, we have a clear vision of the final room. We know our tastes are somewhat polarizing, but we hope they’ll pique your curiosity just enough to follow our journey and our simple life in the making.
